Landscape Architecture & Planning - Seattle, WA - Full Time

Currently, we are seeking a Landscape Architectural Designer II who can help contribute to the overall excellence of work coming from Olson Kundig.
Position Summary The Landscape Architectural Designer II will creatively sketch and visualize design concepts that blend beauty with functionality for landscape architectural projects. Key responsibilities include designing and planning aspects of outdoor spaces such as gardens, parks, commercial landscapes, and residential properties that vary in scale. This role involves guidance from project manager and design lead as well as close collaboration with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to create designs that satisfy aesthetic, environmental, and budgetary needs. Working alongside internal teams, the Landscape Designer II ensures the timely delivery of exceptional outcomes with senior team members.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design, Planning, and Communications:
Performs analyses of design and planning of exterior spaces and physical environments.
Assists in the production of design concepts, including plans, grading, sections, elevations, and 3D models in support of concept design.
Independently applies mid-level landscape architectural concepts and designs.
Prepares design studies, research, site/zoning analysis, and documentation support as required on projects.
Prepares presentations with subconsultants/clients, an aspect of external project communications.
Supports and collaborates with project managers and senior team members in coordinating activities, timelines, and deliverables.
Participates in project meetings, documenting discussions, and action items.
Contributes ideas, solutions, and deliverables in team and project environments.
Documentation and Specification:
Prepares construction documents, including technically related building components, exterior design and details.
Reviews own design work for quality and completeness, compiles, and prepares project specifications on both private and public projects.
Technical Mentorship and Guidance
Under the supervision of the project manager, coordinates with project consultants, receiving technical advisement from senior team members.
Provides basic technical guidance to less experienced landscape architectural team members, particularly Junior Landscape Designers and Landscape Designer I’s.
Provides basic redlines on graphic & technical sets to Junior Landscape Designers and Landscape Designer I's, before consulting with a senior team member.
Construction Administration:
With guidance from the project manager, manages both independent and collaborative tasks throughout the construction administration process.
Education/Skills/Experience:
Bachelor or Technical degree in landscape, architecture, or closely related field
Minimum 4-6 years of post grad related professional experience or similar role with equivalent work experience
Licensed or in pursuit of acquiring licensure as a Landscape Architect (50% through the LARE exams) preferred.
Proficiency in Grasshopper, digital sketching apps, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam Revu/Studio
Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, web browser, ERP (Deltek Vision), Digital File Organization, Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, Enscape, Sketch-Up, Rhino 3D, ArcGIS.
Clear verbal, written, and visual communication to express design ideas through hand-drawing and able to put together technical details that convey a general understanding of landscape architectural components.
Intermediate proficiency of the principles of landscape design, including spatial organization, circulation, grading, and planting design
Intermediate proficiency in horticultural knowledge of a major ecology (temperate, desert, tropical, etc.)
Ability to collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary design team of architects, engineers, planners, and other professionals involved in a project.
Experience working on High-End Residential, Hospitality (Hotels, F&B, and Resorts), and Workplace, as well as a variety of project scales from Master Planning to Detail design
Membership in professional landscape architectural organizations such as ASLA, IFLA, ULI, or similar.

As a firm, we are committed to pay practices that are fair, competitive, and reflect internal pay equity. At the time of posting this job, the hiring range for this position in Seattle is between $83,000 and $89,000 annually. Final salary decisions are made based upon the extent and relatedness of the candidate’s education and experience and considering internal equity and external market factors.
