We are currently seeking a Senior Interior Designer to work in Olson Kundig’s Seatle office. The Senior Interior Designer is responsible for executing and/or participating in project delivery with a specific focus on technical execution or complex projects.
Primary Responsibilities
• Provides professional interior design consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of projects.
• Coordinates with or acts as the project manager to directly supervise the team’s design and technical
delivery.
• May include special expertise roles such as workplace planning, residential outfitting and styling,
hospitality design etc.
• Reviews, compiles, and prepares project specifications as required.
• Takes on aspects of external project communications with subconsultants/clients.
• Can be relied upon to present directly to the client on technical and design solutions.
• Prepares construction documents, including technically related interior design components and details
as well as material, FFE, art and outfitting specifications.
• Independently executes/leads the construction administration process.
• Manages project quality control.
• Supervises and guides the work of less experienced interior design team members.
• Contributes ideas, solutions, and deliverables in team and project environments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Able to organize and cartoon an interior design drawing set as well as a full FFE specifications package.
• Review and coordinate consultant drawings.
• Develop any aspect of the project deliverables (permit drawings, CDs, specifications).
• Technical design skills and ability to direct this type of work for more junior team members.
• Demonstrates mentorship qualities to advance firm goals/initiatives and develop project team members.
• Exhibits a high attention to detail and takes responsibility for delivering accurate, high-quality work.
• Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and effectively prioritizes multiple activities with little guidance in a fast-paced, creative and dynamic work environment.
• Communicates effectively verbally and in writing, demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external “clients” and vendors.
• Demonstrates a growth mindset and an aptitude for presenting opportunities for process improvement and technology solutions, including learning new software and systems.
• Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills, including the ability to present solutions and recommendations for non-standard situations.
Qualifications
• Professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or another related field.
• A minimum of ten years of related professional experience. 15 years of experience preferred
• Proficient modeling and documentation skills using Revit.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
Desired Additional Experience
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu/Bluebeam Studio.
• Experience with Deltek Project Planning.
• Experience with SPEXX or equivalent spec writing software.
• Experience with sustainability-focused project assessments such as Living Building Challenge, LEED,
WELL, and high-performance building.
• A portfolio of work demonstrating design, technical, and drafting abilities.
